Police incident in York city centre – Road now reopened

A city centre road has reopened after a closure, but a police cordon is still in place.

Piccadilly was closed off earlier this afternoon due to a police incident, from the Tower Street junction to Piccadilly Court.

Now the road has reopened, but the area outside Stays York Hotel has been cordoned off by police tape.

There is also an officer guarding the scene.

There were a number of emergency vehicles on the scene earlier today, including ambulances, police cars, and a fire engine.

There was also an unmarked police car at the scene.

Police tape and road closure signs were in place to cordon off the area, and officers and firefighters were patrolling the road.

We will update with further information as we receive it.
