Police called after fire started in York suburb

Police are investigating after a fire was thought to have been started deliberately in York today (Sunday).

A crew from York Fire Station were called out to reports of a fire in the open near Coggan Close, in South Bank at 3.21pm.

It was thought fuel was used in the blaze.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Crews used an environmental pack to deal with the incident.

“The cause was believed to be deliberate, so police were informed.”
