Pick-up truck ‘engulfed in flames’ after being set on fire near York

Firefighters tackled a blaze that engulfed a pick-up truck near York last night.

Acomb and York crews were called to the fire on Stripe Lane, Skelton. at 10.27pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Upon arrival the cab was engulfed in fire.

“The crew extinguished the fire using two hose reels and two breathing apparatus.

“The fire caused 100% fire damage to the cab of the vehicle and 75% fire damage to the engine compartment.

“The cause is thought to be deliberate and the incident was left with police.”
