Moving digital exhibition is back – this time in a different venue

Beautiful and moving digital exhibition People We Love is back – in a new venue for 2023.

The digital art installation was last seen at York Minster in 2021.

This time it will be displayed in the Chapel at Castle Howard, and will feature the venue’s community – including local Ryedale residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

People We Love will be at Castle Howard from 19 May to 15 October 2023.

Artist and creator of People We Love, Kit Monkman.

The installation will feature five high-definition screens with a rotating series of faces gazing at someone they love – someone the audience will never see.

It was inspired by ‘The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman’ by Laurence Sterne.

First published in York in 1759, the book contains a blank page for the reader to imagine, draw or write about a person they love.

People We Love is by York-based creative collective KMA. It’s commissioned by international media arts agency Mediale using funding by Arts Council England and supported by Motion.

The installation is included with a House ticket and runs until 15 October.
