Movie music from Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings to be performed live in York

Get ready for a triple bill of musical movie magic at one of York’s most beautiful venues.

Hear the iconic music from Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Studio Ghibli as it’s brought to life by a modern orchestra in a series of three concerts at the National Centre for Early Music on Walmgate.

The concerts will be presented by Mystery Ensemble – a group of professional musicians that perform special music programs in unique venues around the UK.

First up is Hayao Miyazaki’s Dreams (Saturday 31 August, 6pm & 8pm), which will celebrate films of the Japanese director and Oscar winner Hayao Miyazaki.

The programme will include renowned works composed by Joe Hisaishi, such as Studio Ghibli favourites My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Be transported to the world of elves, hobbits and dwarves with The Music of the Lord of the Rings: Tribute to Howard Shore on Sunday 15 September, 6pm.

Then get whisked away to the magical world of the Boy Who Lived with The Music of Harry Potter and feel like you’re wandering the halls of Hogwarts on Sunday 29 September, 6pm.

So sit back and relax and let the music take you away to fantastical lands.
