Concerned onlookers reported him to the police.

One of them told YorkMix: “I was just on a dog walk when I saw a man who was wearing a backpack, walking boots and a flat cap, but he was otherwise naked.”

“It has been reported to the police – just in case anyone feels uncomfortable passing this man, or if he needs to speak to anybody for any help at all.”

A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police told YorkMix: “At around 2.30pm on 25 March, we received a report of a naked man wearing a flat cap in the area of Heslington.

“However, no offences were disclosed at the time, as simply being naked in public is not an offence in itself.

“If anyone else has seen the man and has concerns about his behaviour, please get in touch on 101 and pass information including the location, date, time and a description of any behaviour that caused concern. Reference number 12250052686.”
