Police have arrested a man near a York car park this afternoon (Monday).
A police van and two unmarked cars were involved in the incident, on Tower Street, next to Castle Car Park.
A member of Boots security staff and an Eboracum Security officer were also on the scene.
It happened at about 3.30pm.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “I can confirm that a 20-year-old man has been arrested for shop theft and assault at that location.
“He will be transported to police custody in due course.”
