Man, 70, dies in two-car crash in North Yorkshire village

A man has died in a crash in a North Yorkshire village.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision on West Moor Road, Raskelf, near Easingwold.

It happened at around 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday) and involved a blue Renault Kangoo and a black Land Rover Discovery.

Sadly, the 70-year-old driver of the Renault, from Helperby, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”

The driver of the Land Rover was a 53-year-old woman from near York, who sustained minor injuries along with her 80-year-old male passenger.

They were both taken to hospital to be checked over.

The police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the collision or the vehicles beforehand.

The Renault Kangoo was travelling towards Helperby, and the Discovery was heading in the opposite direction towards Raskelf at the time of the accident.
