Emergency roadworks in York city centre following sewer collapse

Motorists are being warned about problems on the roads in York city centre after a sewer collapsed.

The problem is affecting St Leonard’s Place.

Marc Bichtemann, MD of First York, said: “Collapsed sewer being investigated tonight and may cause further disruption in the morning.”

Buses are not stopping at St Leonard’s Place. Services 5/5A towards Strensall and service 6 towards Clifton Moor will use stop EC instead.

The AA is reporting slow traffic on nearby Gillygate and Claremont Terrace.
