Cocktail bus to target York racegoers next year

Racegoers will have a new option when it comes to to travelling to and from York Races next year.

The Cocktail Bus will feature a DJ, a party atmosphere, and of course, cocktails.

Created by three business partners, Liam Dunn, Moe Mapuranga and Mike Hackett, in 2018, it is now owned by Steve Bazell, owner of That Gin Company.

The idea behind the bus is to “create a nightclub type experience to let people have fun celebrating an event or simply to get from places in style.”

After having success at Cheltenham Races this year, the company is keen to take the Cocktail Bus to major races across the country – and one location will be York.

“With York being the busiest of the year, we would love to be in York a few times a year,” said Steve.

The plan would be for the Cocktail Bus to park at York train station on race days, to transfer those to the Racecourse who are going to the races. There is no booking – racegoers can just jump on and the bus leaves when its full.

“People can get on it in groups or as individuals and we will run three transfers in the morning and two at night after the races,” Steve explained.

It would cost £10 per person and drinks will be available to buy at the bar.

“A DJ will be playing on the top deck but there are speakers throughout the bus, and it will be a great way to get the party started.”

And if people wanted to continue the party, “individuals or companies can also hire it after the final transfer for a private party or maybe from their hotel to the racecourse in the morning before the first transfer.”
