CCTV issued after York travel agents conned out of £1,200

Police want to talk to this man after a York business was defrauded of £1,200.

It happened at 1.40pm on Tuesday 6 May at Hays Travel, Stirling Road, Clifton Moor.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The incident involved a man who used what is known as the ringing the changes fraud to confuse a member of staff, and make off with £1,200.

“Please contact us if you recognise the man pictured from the CCTV, as he may have information that will assist our investigation.”

The ‘ringing the changes’ scam works when the fraudster pays and then confuses the member of staff into giving them back more than they owe.
