Car wrecked in suspected York hate crime

A suspected hate crime is being investigated by York police.

It happened on Tatton Close in York when a black Renault car was extensively damaged between 10pm on Monday and 9.30am yesterday.

Someone smashed its windscreen and nearside windows and let the tyres down.

The car was parked outside its home address when the incident happened.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We suspect the incident is hate-related and are appealing to anyone with any doorbell cameras or private CCTV in the area to check their cameras for any footage of the incident or suspicious people in the area at the time.

“We’re also appealing to any other victims of similar damage to come forward if they have not reported it to the police.”
