Driver escapes with ‘minor injuries’ after car dragged 100m along the A1

A driver in North Yorkshire escaped with only minor injuries after being dragged by a lorry along the central barrier of the A1(M).

The car and HGV collided at around 9:16 am today, on the southbound carriageway of the motorway near Catterick.

The collision resulted in the car being wedged between the lorry and dragged 100 metres along the barrier.

Richmond Fire Station, whose crew attended the scene, reported only minor injuries, but said it, “could have been so much worse.”

The fire service also reported that traffic was moving along by 10:39 am, but warned that closures may be required later for recovery. 

It was stated on social media that both people in the car are okay, but shaken up.
