Police hunt two people who hurled racist abuse at victim on York bridge

Police are hunting two people who racially abused and harassed a victim in York.

It happened on 11pm on Saturday 12 June, on the Hungate footbridge near Palmer Street.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The incident involved two men aged between 15 and 20 years shouting at the victim and being verbally abusive and using racist slurs towards him, then following him across the bridge to continue harassing him.

“The incident lasted for a few minutes before another group of people intervened and the men made off.

“We’re particularly appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward to assist our investigation.”

One of the perpetrators is described as wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, and the second as wearing a light grey hoodie also with the hood up.
